2013 News

Friday 27th December

In early December, 335 - 335 AOW was collected from Brijan Tours where it has spent time being restored.

Every so often we receive messages asking questions about Southampton's transport past and others things via our website or via social media. A few weeks ago we received a message about some seats that were at the Newport Inn, Braishfield, Romsey, Hampshire. The pub sadly closed in October after the landlady passed away. The seats date back from a pre-war Daimler coach and have been in the pub since the 1950’s.

Tuesday 10th December

As another year draws to a close it’s been another busy year for us here at the Southampton & District Transport Heritage Trust. There have been many events we’ve been to and lots of people carried on our buses. The launch onto social media has proven very successful and if you haven’t already liked us or followed us then there’s a link on the front page so you can. We would like to wish everyone a very happy Christmas & New Year and look forward to seeing you all in 2014 at various events. We will be at Friends of King Alfred Buses Running Day on Wednesday 1st January 2014 (New Year's Day) with some of our buses.

Sunday 1st December

In 1976, 314 - 314 AOW went to France and it was thought it had been scrapped but one of our members found 314 in September and since then we have been in contact with the owners of 314.

On Saturday 30th November a few of our members made the trip over to see it in Northern France, 314 is now being used a pizza restaurant with "Popote Urbaine". We presented the owner with an original number plate. Sadly there are no plans to bring 314 back to Southampton at the moment as it's owner is very happy with it.
