ABOUT THE EVENT

 

Entry to the event is FREE.

 

Display of Buses and Coaches from a variety of eras and operating areas.

 

Network of FREE Bus Services operating from Alton College to Alton Town Centre, Alton Railway Station and through the beautiful Hampshire countryside to surrounding villages and towns. These services are based on the routes operated by Aldershot & District, Alder Valley, Hants & Dorset, Southdown, Wilts & Dorset and other local independent operators in the 1950's, 60's, 70's and 80's.

 

An event programme containing timetables, route maps and vehicle allocations for the FREE bus services, together with details of the vehicles entered, will be available to purchase on the day of the event at Alton College. We accept cash and card payments. Please support the event by purchasing a programme.

 

Sales stands selling a wide variety of transport related items.

 

Variety of catering outlets selling hot and cold food and drinks, ice cream.

 

Toilets on site at Alton College.

Toilets are also available at Alton station and in Turk Street car park (opposite Sainsbury's) and Lady Place car park (behind Market Square) in Alton town centre.

 

All weather venue on hard standing with shade from sun and shelter from rain.

 

Smoking is only permitted in designated outdoor areas in the College grounds.

 

Please note: As the college is a smaller site we've gone back to our roots as a bus only event as unfortunately there is insufficient space for a display of other vehicle types.

TRAVELLING TO THE EVENT

 

There is no parking at or near the College. Park in Alton Town Centre car parks and walk or get the FREE Park & Ride bus to the College.

 

FREE frequent Park & Ride bus service between Alton Town Centre and Alton College. This also connects with Stagecoach buses from / to Guildford and Winchester in Alton High Street.

 

FREE Rail-Link bus service between Alton Railway Station and Alton College, connecting with trains from / to London Waterloo and Stagecoach buses from / to Guildford and Winchester.

 

FREE Feeder bus services to Alton from Basingstoke and Winchester.*

*Feeder services are subject to confirmation, timetables will be published on the website in June.

WATERCRESS LINE (MID HANTS RAILWAY)

 

The Watercress Line operates steam and heritage diesel trains for 10 miles through the beautiful Hampshire countryside between Alton and Alresford.*

*Please check train times and service details for Bus Rally day with the Watercress Line in advance.

 

A frequent FREE bus service operates between the Bus Rally site at Alton College and Alton Railway Station.

 

If you are travelling to Alton by car and also plan to travel on the Watercress Line then you may prefer to park in Alton Station car park, rather than Alton Town Centre car parks.

 

Train tickets can be purchased in advance from the Watercress Line website or on the day at any Watercress Line station.
